As an independent attorney rating service and publication, Super Lawyers recognizes outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high-degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The selection process for both designations includes independent research, peer nominations and evaluations of other attorneys within the peer group.
Selected annually, Super Lawyers candidates are selected by attorneys using a rigorous, multiphase rating process. Each attorney that is selected has been evaluated on 12 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement, and less than 2.5 percent of all attorneys in are recognized as a Super Lawyer.
Texas Rising Stars candidates go through a similar peer review process to recognize outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who are either 40 years old or younger or in practice for ten years or less.
“At Super Lawyers, our goal is to create a credible and comprehensive list of outstanding attorneys that can be used as a resource for lawyers and consumers searching for legal counsel,” said Adam Wahlberg, editor of Super Lawyers. “Since both the Super Lawyers list is intended to be used as an aid in selecting a legal counsel, we limit the ratings to those attorneys who can be hired and retained by the public, such as lawyers in private practice and Legal Aid attorneys.”
