Wick Phillips is pleased to announce the expansion of the firm’s intellectual property practice with the addition of Amy LaValle and Jerry C. Harris, Jr. joining the firm as partners in the Dallas office.
Every business has ideas and brands that must be protected and distinguished from the competition. Wick Phillips has expanded the firm’s intellectual property practice to offer business clients a complete range of IP legal services. Amy and Jerry, both U.S.P.T.O. registered patent attorneys, balance their legal expertise with business insight to provide strategic representation in the acquisition of patents and trademarks, IP litigation and transactional matters, and overall IP portfolio management.
Amy LaValle’s practice encompasses a wide variety of patent litigation and other intellectual property matters. For over 12 years, Amy has represented clients in dozens of patent infringement cases. Amy also has experience handling trademark and copyright infringement cases, trade secret misappropriation and unfair competition matters, and post-grant patent review proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. While her primary focus has been on IP litigation, Amy regularly advises clients on IP licensing and other transactional matters.
Jerry C. Harris, Jr. practices broad and complex intellectual property law with a primary focus on patent and trademark law. His extensive experience representing both patentees and alleged infringers gives him a unique perspective regarding IP litigation. Jerry’s practice covers all aspects of intellectual property law including invalidity opinions, non-infringement opinions, freedom to operate opinions, domestic and foreign patent preparation and prosecution, trademark registration, and client counseling related to patent and trademark issues. Past matters have involved polymer compositions, catalysts, and processing; pharmaceutical compositions and methods of treatment; petroleum exploration and refining; computer software, frameworks, and methods; mechanical devices, including oilfield tools, electromechanical devices, and medical devices; and business methods.
“We are thrilled to add these two esteemed IP attorneys to our firm. They have both earned local and national recognition for their success,” says Bryan Wick, a founding partner of Wick Phillips. “Their commitment to excellence makes them vital additions not only to our intellectual property group, but to the firm as a whole. Our commitment to best serve our clients is the driving force behind our decision to bring Amy and Jerry on board.”
